Women’s Missionary Society
The Women’s Missionary Society is the missionary arm of Wright’s Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church. Rooted in the historic witness of women in the AME Church, the Women’s Missionary Society is dedicated to advancing the mission of Christ through service, education, evangelism, and advocacy. Included within the Women’s Missionary Society is the Young People’s Department, which nurtures mission consciousness, Christian discipleship, and leadership development among children and youth.
The Women’s Missionary Society is responsible for promoting mission education, supporting local and global outreach initiatives, caring for the poor and marginalized, and uplifting the spiritual, social, and economic well-being of the church and the wider community. Guided by the doctrine and discipline of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, the Society equips women and young people to live out a faith that is active in love, justice, and compassionate service, continuing the AME tradition of liberation-centered ministry and transformational mission.
Christian Education Department
The Christian Education Department is a vital ministry of the church, charged with nurturing spiritual formation and theological grounding throughout the entire body of believers. It includes the Sons of Allen Men’s Ministry and the Richard Young Adult Council and provides oversight for Christian education across the congregation. This department encompasses Sunday School, Bible study programs, Christian education seminars, discipleship and spiritual formation ministries, leadership development, and age-appropriate faith formation for children, youth, young adults, and adults. Rooted in the doctrine, discipline, and mission of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, the Christian Education Department equips believers to grow in knowledge of Scripture, deepen their relationship with Christ, and live out a faith that is both personal and socially transformative.
Organized Lay Organization
The Organized Lay Organization is the teaching and training arm of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, entrusted with equipping the laity for informed, faithful, and effective service. This ministry is instrumental in educating lay members in the Holy Scriptures, the history of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, and its doctrine, discipline, and polity. Through intentional instruction and leadership development, the Organized Lay Organization prepares the laity to serve with knowledge, integrity, and confidence across every level of the church.
Beyond education, the Organized Lay Organization plays a critical role in shaping the life of the denomination. It has been and continues to be instrumental in advancing reforms, strengthening governance, and implementing changes to church polity through informed advocacy and faithful engagement within the connectional structure. Grounded in the AME tradition of justice, accountability, and democratic participation, the Organized Lay Organization empowers the laity to lead from within, ensuring that the Church remains responsive, faithful, and mission-driven in every generation.
